HILL BRIEFS: HUNTSMAN NOMINATION HEADS TO SENATE FLOOR
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in a voice vote Tuesday, approved Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman as U.S. ambassador to China. The Senate is expected to confirm Huntsman to the post this week.
Huntsman, a Republican who speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, is a former ambassador to Singapore.
Huntsman was considered a potential presidential candidate in 2012 before President Obama nominated him for ambassador to China in May.
